“Separation of Church and State”

A biblical and historical Baptist principle is that God desires separation of church and state, not separation of God and church or separation of God and state. Study the writings and audio teaching and preaching of Pastor Jason Cooley and attorney Jerald Finney to discover the truth about and how to apply the principle. Finney's teachings prove that the revisionist view of Separation of Church and State accepted without examination by most American "Christians" is false and has done great damage to the cause of Christ and to America.

Do you want to master the biblical doctrines of government, church, and separation of church and state. Do you want to understand and be able to explain the meaning of Romans 13? Do you want to understand the history of the First Amendment? Do you want to know how incorporation and IRS Code Section 501(c)(3) violate biblical principles? Etc. If so, click the following link:

This page will cover God Betrayed/Separation of Church and State: The Biblical Principles and the American Application. First is the complete audio series, a series of broadcasts done by Jerald Finney several years ago. Below that are links to the written series.

These audio teachings and articles systematically examine the biblical principles of government, church, and separation of church and state and the American application and misapplication of those principles. The biblically literate believer who reads and studies these teachings will understand the principles, history, and basic legal concepts addressed. The articles are more thorough than the audio teachings, but meditating on the audio teachings will give one a solid foundation or understanding of the biblical doctrines of government, church, and separation of church and state and the American application of those doctrines.

D. Articles on the history of religious liberty in America (Part Two, Section IV of God Betrayed/Separation of Church and State: The Biblical Principles and the American Application,  “History of Religious Freedom in America”):

Our Baptist forefathers stood in times of severe persecution. They did not deny their faith to get out of being persecuted. They “suffered persecution.” Two sermons by Pastor Jason Cooley relevant to standing in times of trouble and tribulation are placed here. As a result of the stand of our Baptist foretathers, Americans, to this point, have enjoyed religious freedom, as well as freedom of speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the civil government for a redress of grievances. The question is, are we ready to suffer persecution if that is the price of standing for Christ? The question is important because, from all appearances, the time may soon come when believers may have to choose between suffering or denial of Christ. “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).

010610 An Abridged History of the First Amendment. Since this topic is so vast, this article is longer than most articles on this blog—21 single spaced pages, excluding endnotes (not so long considering the wealth of information distilled on this vital subject). Sadly, very few Christians know the facts presented in this history. Tragically, few Christians want to know it. To fully understand the issue of separation of church  and state, one must have knowledge of the history of the First Amendment.

F. Articles on “God Betrayed: Union of Church and State in America” (Part Two, Section VI of God Betrayed/Separation of Church and State: The Biblical Principles and the American Application):

Pastor Jason Cooley calls God Betrayed: Separation of Church and State/The Biblical Principles and the American Application the encyclopedia of information on the issue of separation of church and state. For one who has some concept of the biblical principles involved, the author was encouraged to write Separation of Church and State: God’s Churches: Spiritual or Legal Entities?, a book which gets to the church issues of incorporation, 501(c)(3), how a church may utilize property without becoming a legal entity, etc. much more succinctly. This study presents both books.
